Blood orange season is short and sweet. These beautiful oranges are only around for a few months at the start of the year, and it’s well worth making the most of the season whilst it lasts. Juice them up, and serve up this stunning cocktail for yourself or your friends.
With their deep crimson hue and their tart flavour, blood oranges are one of my favourite fruits, and are kept stocked abundantly in my kitchen when in season. They are an absolute joy when freshly juiced with their bright and vibrant taste – these could be juiced by hand, but I prefer to use a citrus juicer to get the maximum yield from the fruit.
The screwdirver is a classic, and dangerously easy cocktail. Simply combine the vodka and the juice over ice, and serve. It’s a very simple recipe, so use the best ingredients you can find. A good vodka and fresh juice are vital here! Next time you see some blood oranges in the shops, be sure to grab some and give this amazing Blood Orange Screwdriver a go!
